I bought this belt sander for knife making. It is very well made and worth every penny.
I really like the longer platen. It allows me to expand on the style of knives I can make. The grinder run quietly and efficiently. I'm very satisfied.
The grinder has done a very good job for me. I bought it to help make knives just as a hobby so I work with it when my back and rest of my body allows it. During set up I could not get the sanding belt to track right, after exhausting my efforts to correct this I called their technical department and they talked me thru the issue while I was on the phone and it didn't take but about 5 minutes, now that's Great service. I am recovering now from 2 cervical surgeries, will be glad to get back to some grinding therapy soon I hope.
Great product. Does take a little bit of time to plan out, mount and assemble the product. However, once assembled the product has fulfilled everything that I expected of the device.
Best knife grinder for $ , I have built about 1-dz knife's now & love it , had to extend the work-rest top for space for grinding jigs ti slide, the rest is very adjustable for the platen or wheel, I added glass on the platen face it's a must, the graphite sticker is trouble for flat grinds. All parts & Instructions were included and great , Tracking was touchy what i did that helped that the instructions did not indicate was i used a long metal straight edge on the side, from the bottom edge of contact wheel to the top edge of tracking wheel , i had to loosen the set screw on track wheel and slide it out so top and bottom all (4) edges lined up perfect and it tracks great, Ton's of power smooth and quiet. If there is one thing i would do different i would have ordered the 10" wheel vs the 8"
I use it in a small blacksmith shop Had it a few months now and absolutely love it it does everything I needed and more.
I highly recommend this grinder. I used one of these for several years at work in a fabrication shop. After quitting work at the fabrication shop I searched online for a place to buy this machine with no luck. I didn't know the make or model I could only remember it said something along the lines of "knife grinder" on it. I happened to find it several years later by browsing through the Grizzly catalog. I highly recommend this machine to anyone doing almost any type of fabrication. I love this machine! Funny thing is I have never used it for is knife making. You cannot go wrong here.
I bought this for knife making and am really happy with it. It does a great job. There is one thing I don't understand though. The plate that the sanding belt rests on has a semi-soft coating on it. It is hard, but if you sand in one spot or press in it leaves an imprint.
I purchased this item and waited about a month one a half before opening the box and when I did found the product it shifted inside during shipment and there were several parts that were damaged including one part that required me to have it taken out and welded just to be functional. Grizzly should work on a better packaging for their products and I should work on opening things a little bit sooner.
This machine can hog some serious material. Fully adjustable platen, takes a buffing wheel on the other end too. You CAN NOT slow this machine down. If you're a knife maker, or just like to build stuff, whether its steel, or wood, this thing will turn anything into a pile of dust on the floor, and in a hurry too.
I had been using a smaller sander and I used it a lot. This sander just simply works great. Fast, quiet and powerful. It has cut my grind time in half. I highly recommend this product. I think it is well built and the price you pay for this sander is very reasonable.
This machine is terrific. It set up easily, and tracks perfectly. The instructions are clear, but could use a step on aligning the idler wheel with the drive wheel, very easy. Shipping was very fast and UPS delivered to the door in 2 cartons.
Hey ,thanks for asking. I must say i am very pleased with my new belt sander/grinder. It is as heavy duty as advertised, easy set up and adjustments. It was missing a 5/8 nut for buffer and washers for adjustment arm, easily found at store. Overall I would buy it all over again. Customer service was great. Veryhappy with puchase
As a hobbyist trying to make a business, this tool has increased my productivity and quality. Very happy customer.
I have had this sander for about 5 weeks and it has cut down my sanding time even more then I thought it would! I Love it and it will be well used!
Very good machine I would an have recommended it to several people I know
I am communicating my complete satisfaction with the shipping, receiving, packaging, instruction directions, and operation. Job well done and a very good product!
